David Rosenberg in conversation with Michael Rosen at the OSD clubhouse

There was a great Newham Bookshop event at the Old Spotted Dog Ground clubhouse last night helping to mark the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street.

David Rosenberg was in conversation with Michael Rosen to mark the thoroughly updated third edition of David’s popular and radical guide to London, Rebel Footprints, which features four new chapters. It was a sell-out event with 50 books sold and signed too.

There’s a second event at the OSD with Newham Bookshop coming up around the Cable Street anniversary. On Wednesday, October 7, author Daniel Trilling will be in conversation with Aamna Mohdin, discussing his important new book, If We Tolerate This: How the British establishment made the far right respectable.

Tickets are still available.

Sunday, October 4 is the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street, when working class Londoners stopped Oswald Mosley’s fascists marching through the East End.

On the day, there will be a march meeting noon outside Tower Hamlets Town Hall. Bring union banners, flags and all your friends.
