Urgent: help us make the Dog accessible for everyone

Old Spotted Dog

THE PROBLEM

We have made significant improvements to the Old Spotted Dog Ground since 2020, but we will not create the friendly, welcoming space we want to offer to football fans until our ground is accessible.

Paths are too narrow, and currently, it is hard for wheelchair users to squeeze through to the main stand or fully access the new toilet block.

THE SOLUTION

New Pathways: We plan to create level, durable walkways along the southern (Ham Park Road) edge and eastern (Walter Tull Way) edge of the pitch. These will connect key areas of the ground, making places easier to reach for all supporters, players, and visitors.

Perimeter Fence: A new, secure fencing system will run alongside the pitch, keeping the playing surface safe and clearly separated from pathways. Importantly, this fence will be built using retired scaffold poles – giving new life to materials that would otherwise be thrown away.

WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE?

More accessibility: These upgrades will ensure smoother, safer access for everyone – including older supporters, families with children, and those with mobility needs.

More safety: By having more spectator space around the pitch, we will ensure that more supporters can watch games in a safe and secure environment.

Genuine sustainability: By repurposing scaffold poles, we are not just saving money but also cutting down on waste and reducing our environmental impact.

FutureproofingWith durable materials like self-binding gravel, we are building pathways that will last and reduce ongoing maintenance.

To make this happen, we need to raise £10,000

This project is a big step forward for the Old Spotted Dog Ground, but it comes with significant costs for the pathways, fencing, and groundwork. Every donation will bring us closer to making our ground fully accessible, safe, and sustainable for all.

To save money, the work will be carried out by volunteers, so if you would like to get involved in the project, please contact trust@oldspotteddog.org.
