We clean up our mess – new fixed bins in bid to boost recycling

Over the summer we have installed some fixed bins around the Old Spotted Dog Ground in an effort to improve our waste management on site and up the recycling ratio.
A vast majority of the waste created on a matchday is aluminium cans which are infinitely recyclable! But not if it’s put in black bin bags – or non-recyclable items are placed in green bins.
Please make an effort to put all cans, plastic bottles and single-use plastic cups in the green bins provided so that they can be recycled.
More can crushers have also been installed near to the fixed recycling bins – please try to use them whenever possible.
More compact cans means less single-use plastic bin bags, and any space saved in the bin saves us money by reducing the need for collections.
Please don’t put anything else in the green bins.
Black bags are for general waste – food scraps, soiled packaging, crisp packets, etc! We can’t recycle soft plastic on site, so anything other than PET bottles and cups must go in the general waste.

A handful of ashtrays have also been installed to keep things tidy and reduce the risk of a stray butt setting the grass on fire…
Environmentalism is an anti-fascist issue! Climate change disproportionately affects marginalised communities! Everything is on fire, let’s do what we can!
